Located in the Semni valley Tea Estate, near Elappara, on the cardamom hills of Peer made in central Kerala, WelcomHeritage s Chinnar Plantation Bungalow is bordered by the Haileyburia Tea Estate on the west, the Chinnar Estate on the north and Tyford on the south. Just been added to the Welcomheritage chain, the Bungalow stands at Haileyburia, known for its coffee, vanilla, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and nutmeg plantations at a height of 2,500 ft. The Chinnar Heritage Plantation Resort is located in the Semni Valley Tea Eastate, near Elappara (Kerala, India), on the cardamom hills of Peermade in Central Kerala. Semni Valley is bordered by the Haileyburia Tea Estate on the west, the Chinnar Estate on the north and Twyford on the south. The resort is a part of the 3000 acres of plantations.

Room and Amenities

Top Bungalow, a grand old heritage building, is the high point of the resort. This ranch style structure was built in 1905 by Frank Bisset, one of the pioneer- planters who opened up the initial clearings in 1902. From this vantage point, you can see the mist- laden hills and valleys with their rolling plantations of tea and spices spread around you in all their mystique splendor.

The area surrounding the bungalow is a mosaic of seasonal flowering plants, creepers and vines, lawns and landscaped gardens. Cypress trees, flame- of- the forest trees and a huge coniferous tree borders the garden at the northern side and bamboo trees and pines on the eastern side.

Activities here comprise Planattion walk, Boating in this little lake. The 770 sq metre single- storey bungalow, built in semi- colonial style, also incoporates typical Kerala architectural features.

Accommodation - four spacious and lavishly appointed bedrooms and two childrens rooms in the main bungalow, the out- house on the southern side of the garden contains two more bedrooms with all modern amenities.

The living/dining areas and all bedrooms feature fire- places adorned with woodwork. The original open verandas on the northern and western sides now have large glass windows running the full length.

The bungalow houses a clean, well- equipped kitchen which serves vegetarian food and refreshments from the Kitchens of India menu. Special North Indian dishes are prepared on request.
